Floor Representatives
The floor representatives are the majority members of the WIRC's General Council. Made up of volunteer students from every floor of every residence building, they represent the students twofold - in General Council they represent the students of their floor in all major decisions and discussion about WIRC's actions, and in their buildings they represent the interests of the WIRC by functioning as advertisers, event planners, fundraisers, and the voices of the WIRC.
Floor representatives are split into two categories: voting and non-voting floor representatives. Elected by their peers at the beginning of the school year, voting floor representatives are the one student that is allowed to vote on the behalf of all students living on their residence's floor during General Council. They are supported in General Council by the non-voting floor representatives who form the advisory committee for the voting member. Non-voting members do not have voting privileges but they do still have a say, either through their voting member or through their building's representatives.
Floor representative elections occur during late September and are organized by the residence representatives with assistance from the Residence Life team. Come on out and join the team!
More information on the duties and responsibilities of the floor representatives can be found in the WIRC office. To find out more please stop by our office Monday to Friday 11am - 5pm, or call us at ext. 7838.
